The Short Version
These are two different shapes of product and pretending otherwise wastes your time.
We do one job. GetHelpdesk.AI answers your phone, books into your practice management system, and leaves your phone lines exactly where they are. One published price, $399 a month flat, month to month.
Weave is a communications platform. As published on 12 September 2026, it replaces your phone system and layers texting, payments, reviews, forms and email on top, with AI as a capability inside that stack. It states that “over 35,000 locations use Weave.”
So the question that actually decides this is not whose AI is better. It is: are you buying a phone system this year? If yes, the platform conversation is legitimate. If no, you are being asked to replace working infrastructure to get a feature.

Where We Are Genuinely Different
One price, and the AI is in it. $399 a month, flat, month to month, with every capability included: 25+ languages, emergency triage on your own protocol, transcripts and summaries for every call, unlimited simultaneous callers.
Weave publishes plan names but not plan prices, stating only “starting from $199 per month.” More to the point, “Call Intelligence” appears on their pricing page as an Ultimate-only feature. If the AI you liked in the demo sits in the top tier, the entry price is not your price. Ask which tier each capability belongs to and get it in writing, because that placement is the largest variable in what this costs you.
We do not touch your phones. No porting, no hardware, no retraining the team on a new system. That is a smaller promise than a platform makes and it is also a much smaller thing to undo if we disappoint you. Weave’s Ultimate plan includes up to 15 phones, which is real value if you need phones and dead weight if you are two years into a VoIP contract.
Dental only, and that shows up in specific places. A dental schedule is appointment types of different lengths, tied to providers licensed for different procedures, in differently equipped operatories, with hygiene on a separate recall column. Triage has to know that a broken tooth, a lost crown and facial swelling are three different urgencies and only one should wake someone. A large share of calls are some version of “do you take my insurance.” Weave is healthcare-wide and states its AI Receptionist is “launching to additional verticals soon,” so dental shares a roadmap with optometry, veterinary and medical.
Sixteen named systems, with the per-system truth. Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Eaglesoft, iDentalSoft, Curve Hero, PracticeWorks, Denticon, Cloud 9, Dolphin, OrthoTrac, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen Enterprise and ModMed, each with a page stating which actions are supported, partial or out of scope. We are an authorized Open Dental API partner and the exclusive AI partner for iDentalSoft. Weave says it provides “authorized integrations with leading practice management systems” without naming them on its AI page.
Their point about authorization is a fair one and worth carrying into every vendor conversation, ours included. Ask both of us to name your system and say which direction the integration runs.
Where Weave May Be the Better Fit
Straightforwardly, there are practices that should choose them.
You are replacing your phone system anyway. Contract ending, hardware failing, a system nobody can configure. Then the platform play is a solution to a real problem and we are not a substitute for it, because we do not sell phones.
You would retire four or five subscriptions. Total up what you pay today for phones, texting, reminders, review requests, forms and payments. If that list is long and expensive, one platform may genuinely cost less than the sum, and that is a calculation worth doing properly.
You want one vendor and one invoice. Fewer vendors means fewer BAAs to manage and one place to call when something breaks. That is a real operational benefit, and the trade is that one vendor holding more of your data is a larger blast radius, not a smaller one.
Scale matters to you. 35,000+ locations is a substantial installed base and a reasonable signal that they will still exist in five years. We are a smaller company founded in 2024 and we are not going to pretend our public track record is the same size.
How to Decide, in Order
1. Are your phones actually a problem right now? Not “could be better.” If they are fine and under contract, stop comparing a platform to a point solution and compare AI receptionists to each other instead.
2. List what you would truly retire. If you already have a reminder tool you like and a review tool that works, a platform means paying for overlap.
3. Ask Weave which tier the AI is in, then price that tier. Do this before the second demo.
4. Run the same five calls at both of us. A new patient asking about insurance then booking. An existing patient moving an appointment. A genuine after-hours emergency. A clinical question the AI should refuse. An interruption mid-sentence. Then go and look in your own practice management software, not the dashboard, and check the booking landed.
5. Weigh the cost of being wrong. Leaving us means cancelling a monthly subscription. Leaving a phone platform means porting numbers, returning hardware and retraining staff.
FAQs
Can I run both? Yes, and some practices do: a platform for messaging and payments, us on the voice line. Check for overlap on reminders so patients do not get two texts, and check that call forwarding between the two is clean.
Is a multi-vertical product automatically worse at dentistry? No. It is a question of depth and roadmap priority, not competence. Test it against your own appointment map and your own triage rule rather than assuming.
Weave will not publish tier prices. Is that a red flag? It is normal for platform software and it is inconvenient for you, because you cannot shortlist on paper. Ask for one document with the tier containing the AI, the hardware, and any implementation fee.
We already have Weave. Should we add you? Only if the AI in your current tier is not doing the job. Run the five calls first. If it books correctly into your system and escalates properly, adding a second vendor is cost without benefit, and we will tell you that on the call.
Do you replace our phone system? No. We answer the phone you already have. If you need a phone system, you need a phone system, and that is a different purchase.
Does a platform make HIPAA simpler? Fewer BAAs to manage, which is an administrative benefit. You still need a signed BAA from anyone touching patient information either way. We act as a Business Associate and sign one.
Where to Start
Answer question one honestly. If your phones are fine, the comparison you should be running is against other dental AI receptionists, and the buyer’s guide has the scorecard.
If your phones are not fine, run the platform evaluation properly and add the porting work to your estimate.
Either way, our pricing is published rather than quoted, our integrations name every system we write into, and you can call the AI yourself before speaking to anyone.

Most vendors say they handle calls, texts and scheduling. The question that separates them is which of those channels can actually write into your practice management system, and which only produce a notification.
